How We Work With You

Your free in-home consultation with an experienced member of our team will help establish your decorating goals and identify what you want to achieve.

Big Picture

We recognize that purchasing customized products for your home is about more than that individual element. It is about conveying your personality and style through unique, quality window treatments that make a statement. It is also about creating a seamless and harmonious blend between the old and the new. Whether we are redesigning an entire room or creating a single custom element, we take into consideration the entire look and feel of your home or business to create something with beauty and balance.

Room/Space Requirements

Once the vision for your project and the feel of your home or business premises as a whole has been established, we turn our attention to the technical aspects of the process. For example, the amount of natural light available to the room, current artificial lighting strengths and weaknesses, and lighting requirements based on room usage will all be assessed. The size and shape of the room and windows, and the room’s current and intended uses will all be carefully considered to ensure that a great style will not mean sacrificing any functionality.

Considerations for Blind Selection

Material and Color

Due to their size and prominent placement, window coverings factor significantly into the overall look and feel of any room. Therefore, careful selection of a colour and finish that complements the accompanying wallcoverings, furniture and accessories is essential to the final “success” of the room. Depending on the desired focal point, colous can be chosen to blend or provide striking contrast to neighbouring décor.

Light Protection

Modern blinds offer fantastic light protection and privacy. From blackout to shimmering sheers, shades are available in a huge variety of materials allowing you to select just how much light protection you desire for each room in your home.

Care and Maintenance

Vacuum your blinds and shades regularly with the soft-bristle attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Always use the plastic holder at the bottom of the shade, or the string and plastic wand on blinds, to open and close your new window covering. A small amount of dishwashing detergent and warm water can be used to clean most blinds. Some shades can also be washed this way. Take your non-washable shades to the dry cleaners. We are happy to advise you on the best cleaning options for your chosen product.

Blind Trends

From basking in that warm summer sun to reveling in the energy boost from a bright crisp winter day, letting in the light just makes us feel good. Sheer to semi-opaque shades can add some privacy while still allowing you to enjoy the incomparable beauty of natural light. As we all make more of an effort to conserve energy for both environmental and economic reasons, letting more natural light into our homes can also be an excellent way to reduce energy consumption!

While white and off-white will continue to be popular choices for blinds and shades, the warmth of summer is also influencing the colors of our homes. Shades are available in such a plethora of solid and printed fabrics that a punch of summer warmth can be added to any room – tangerine in the nursery or fuchsia in the guest room perhaps! Rooms that contain just one modest sized window can dressed with a shade that is truly a focal point – a piece of art that functions.
