There are essentially two main styles – tailored slipcovers (form fitting) and shabby chic slipcovers (loose fitting). Once this is established, design variations within the chosen style can be considered and selected. Color and Fabric Selection
Many elements will influence the appropriate fabric selection. For example, the chosen fabric must be opaque enough to hide the original upholstery. The selected fabric must also have the right properties for the style of slipcover that you have chosen. The location should be considered, certain fabrics are more resistant to fading and therefore a better choice for areas that receive a lot of direct sunlight. Will it be used in a high traffic area or are there young children in the home? If so, fabrics that resist stains or wash easily would be a wise choice.
